The Kabankalan City Association of Retired Employees Inc. (KCARE) is sponsoring a 30-minute walk dubbed a “WALK for SERVICE for FUN and FUNDS” on April 14, 2010 at 6:30AM (Assembly and Registration) at the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs, Kabankalan City participated in by the KCARE members and invited friends who are sympathetic and supportive to the cause and purpose of the association. Then a short program will follow.

The two (2) specific objectives of the activity are: (1) to provide time for the retirees to have a “fun – walk and talk” with fellows and friends, (2) to generate funds to augment the KCARE Hospitalization Fund and to share the indigent – patients of the District Hospital.

In this regard, the KCARE Board of Trustees and all officers unanimously agreed to invite you to join us in the affair.

COMPASSION, SERVICE, INTEGRITY – The Founding Virtues

A local organization with an international significance because a retiree is found in every land.

Are you retired from serve/employment? Be it from public or private agency, you are invited to join the KCARE, an acronym for the “Kabankalan City Association of Retired Employees” based in Brgy. Binicuil, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, Philippines.

This association was born in July 2006 because of the “intense concern” to fellow retirees who are living a miserable life. Why miserable when they have their monthly pension. According to our survey based on actual membership (2008), 23% of retirees are receiving a monthly pension of Php3,000.00 to Php5,000.00 ( half of them with no other resources) ages ranging from 60 to 86 years. This is the stage in man’s life when everything seems to slow down if not breakdown. All kids of illness are present in this generation, the “perishing generation,” we say. They do physical exercises most commonly walking or biking, not for muscle-building but for survival and existence. They regularly need food supplement, vitamins and medicines.

Reviewing in brief the life of retirees, many of them were teachers, some were private/public employees and factory workers. All of them had served the people and community all their life until retirement.

Currently the association is extending mutual aid to fellow retirees when hospitalized and in case of death. It also reached out to identified indigents of the community giving them “used clothing, rice and dry goods” during Christmas season coming from some retiree-members and solicitations from some kind-hearted friends.

Take a look at the retirees receiving the low-bracket monthly pension and ponder how they survive with the present cost of living. Imagine the cost of medicines which become the component of the retirees’ life. Many of them resorted to local herbal medicines which can only  be found in the backyard. Whenever they get sick, some of them cannot be hospitalized because of “no money.” No hospital in the Philippines is for “free” and health insurance is not a guarantee.

The very reason why this association, the Kabankalan City Association of Retired Employees (KCARE) came into being. Compassion, service, integrity for God’s Glory.

Our KCARE has a total membership of 118 members, 93 active and 25 inactive or delinquent members as of August 25, 2008.

We are very sorry to inform you that on September 3, 2008, on that same day, two of our members died: Ms. Leonila Delaraga of Binicuil and Mrs. Rufina Geroso Traiso of Daan Banua.

Our KCARE immediately extended our Aid (Hospitalization and Death Aid).

There were 17 members who availed the Hospitalization Aid, 3 of the Death Aid.

The Board of Trustees and all the Officers approved a Resolution in its meeting on August 26, 2008 that “Every KCARE member shall contribute the amount of P 30.00 in case of death of a member, effective immediately.”

This is also to reiterate the Resolution approved by the General Assembly on July 27, 2008 that, “Our Assembly starting this year will be held only twice a year, one in July and another in December of every year.”

Thank you so much for your support and cooperation.

Our Association, the Kabankalan City Association of Retired Employees, Inc will be holding its General Assembly on December 21, 2008 -2PM at the Binicuil Elementay School Campus, Binicuil, Kabankalan City. Our Key Speaker is our beloved Governor of the Province of Negros Occidental, the Honorable ISIDRO P. ZAYCO.

Our KCARE has a total membership of 132 ; 16 new members coming from Talubangi, Salong, Binicuil and Poblacion.

This period from July to December, 2008 is our crisis point. We suffered 13 cases of hospitalized members, 4 of them died; Ms. Leonila Delaraga, Mrs. Rufina Traiso, Mr. Quirico Denaga and Mrs. Liling Cordova. Fellow members visited our sick-members and condoled the bereaved family of the deceased members. The Hospitalization Aid and Death Aid were served immediately except for the two delinquent members. Your Php 30 monthly contribution had helped a lot. Thank you.

We extended a total of Php 29,000 for Hosp Aid/Death Aid this year. However, our financial condition is still good and sound, to wit: Membership Fund is Php 9,575.00 , General Fund Php 9,904.75 , Hospitalization Fund is Php 23,262.45 , Misc Fund Php 2,000.00. A grand total of Php 44,742.20. (Php 41,477.95 is deposited in the bank & Php 3,264.25 cash on hand/Treasurer); collectibles Php 2,737.00 from the former Treasurer.

Please turn over your stubs to the Raffle Committee on or before December 15, 2008 AM at the old barangay hall (KCARE Office) of Binicuil, Kabankalan City C/O: Ms. Leticia Ibarra, Ms. Gloria Pico or Mrs. Marina Ramos.

Send also your donation (used clothing, dry goods, other articles) for the indigents.
